Competition on the Cable Cars

Competition on the Cable Cars

LEGO building competitions take place all over the world – but BRICK created a first when it set up a team challenge on the Emirates Air Line Cable Car that goes across the Thames in London.

With teams of two taking on the challenge of building a LEGO model, inspired by their imagination and surroundings, in just 10 minutes – the same amount of time its takes to go from one of the Cable Car terminals to the other.

However, Mother Nature stepped in and rather than the competition take place inside one of the cars on the move, our teams had to make do with the cable car platform as it was too windy for the cars to be in action.

Third prize went to Stephen Web, who had to compete on his own due to a late dropout! He created a Christmas stall with BRICK mascot Studley on the roof.

Second prize went to Harmit Singh and his father. Their build got special attention from our judges as they built their version of the Cable Car control room right next to where the competition took place.

The overall winners were Matthew and Tyler James, who re-created the Emirates Air Line Cable Car terminal, complete with a cable car suspended in the air. They also came all the way from Gloucester to take part.

Congratulations and thanks to all who took part and to Emirates Air Line Cable Car for allowing us to use the terminal.

BRICKLIVE is the UK’s biggest celebration of LEGO®.
